On Friday, November 3, 2023, at 10:29 AM, right after assembly, the second BNN episode was played in the upper school library with the entire upper school student body present inside the library. If you missed it, here’s a recap of the second episode of BNN. Hope you enjoy it!
After hearing complaints from the audience saying they should have a more eye-catching theme and not a normal theme with the Breck Upper School Commons behind them, they listened to their audience’s suggestions. Episode #2’s theme is more suitable for Halloween and more eye-catching to their audience than just the standard Upper School Commons theme.
The episode started off with Breck BNN host Ethan Pastor telling Witt Mehbod the weather forecast and she said it snowed for about 2 inches despite it being pretty short.
We also heard from two senior star athletes who play baseball and tennis. State champ Izzy Einess and baseball captain Tommy Belman, shared their thoughts about the sport. However, instead of listening to a full on interview by Izzy Einess, we instead heard her say, which I assume is something she didn’t actually say, which was “I’m the ******* best in the state that **** is just too easy!” Ok, first of all the audience and I expected someone to interview Izzy to make the process more smooth and enjoyable and if you’re going to quote Izzy make sure to check with her to see if she actually said that and keep the language appropriate as well. Next, we go to three-time varsity athlete Tommy Belman didn’t talk much about the rumors but he did say “back in my day” and then it went back to Sam and Ethan.
Breck Football, Basketball, and Track and Field senior athlete Dylan Luebke, who dressed as a pharaoh for Halloween, was introduced in the scene to collect candy from Sam and Ethan. That was my favorite scene as he helped me fix my bike once due to his strength.
We even saw the Upper School Librarian Ms. Markert ride a small bike across the school (a flashback to Tour de Breck) with Witt and Stella Murphy interviewing her after. Props for adding the Fetty Wap music later on as it added drama and entertainment for the audience while everyone burst into laughter. But what was the need for mentioning Zach Huotari for Fetty Wap? I felt that it wasn’t connected that much to Ms. Market and didn’t follow the plot. Zach was just cheering on something else that’s unrelated to Fetty Wap.
Now it’s sponsor time! Nice job adding the music in the background to transition to a new segment. We heard two seniors Anjneya Kumar and Erik Nordseth going to the gym as part of their skit. The Sponsor was Nordex. Shout out to senior Erik Nordseth for sponsoring his name as Nordex.
The after credits of BNN were hilarious however. When a glass breaks Ethan goes to check what happened and then he instead became the mascot in order to play a prank on Sam. This scene was by far the funniest and spookiest for Halloween and a nice way to end off the episode.
Overall, I give this episode a 9/10, as you introduced new ideas like “who knew” and made the audience laugh in most of the parts. I suggest interviewing people like Izzy nextime moving forward and confirm with that person if they actually said that specific quote. To conclude, another great episode from two funny seniors and a nice job making everyone laugh on Halloween day.
