Breck Bugle

An Interview with Junior Basketball Player Carter Steinbeck

What is your favorite part of playing for Breck Basketball?

“The winning nature that we have brought to this year’s team. Hopefully we’ll keep that going for this year and years to come.”

Who do you look up to on the team?

“I’d probably have to say Daniel Freitag because of knowing how hard he’s worked in the past to get to where he is now. It’s special and I want to replicate that success on and off the court.”

How do you get locked in for games?

“I always need my pregame playlist and to get my exact same amount of shots up at home games. But mostly just having a good playlist of music and being focused on the one goal which is to win.”

What is the hardest thing about being a part of a very strong team?

“I’d definitely say the hardest thing is knowing that you could go somewhere else and put up more stats but win less games but being ok with winning and being happy for your teammates. Even when you didn’t perform as well as you thought you could have.”

What’s the best part about being a part of a very strong team?

“For sure the winning, because that’s what we’re all about and that’s all I care about. When I look up at the scoreboard after 36 minutes, I always see that we have more points than the other team and I know that will continue into sections and state.”
