The Breck Mustangs are looking forward to the 2025 season, eager to get back on the field and compete. With a strong returning squad and new young players looking to join, the team is ready to chase conference, section and state championships.
This year’s squad is led by returning captains Elan Choudry and Chase Wilkinson ‘26, both key pieces in Breck’s midfield, along with newly elected captain Ellis Preissing ‘27. Choudry and Preissing are both coming off great seasons, where they both achieved All-State and All-Conference honors. With all three captains’ leadership and dedication, the Mustangs are set for the upcoming season.
The Mustangs are lucky to have only graduated 6 seniors and to be returning key players at all positions, including 4 of their 5 top goalscorers from their 2024 campaign; Jude Meli ‘27, Elan Choudry ‘26, Jonah Dorman ‘27, and Ellis Preissing ‘27. They also have key midfield and defensive starters returning such as George MacBean ‘26, Lucas Levinsohn ‘27 and Rocco Zoia ‘26. The team’s strong goal scoring ability along with depth across the midfield and defense, makes them a tough opponent for anyone they face. Adding to the team’s already strong roster, is the return of Matis Aguiar ‘27, who missed last season due to a knee injury. Now fully recovered, he’s excited to come back and make a big impact in the midfield and help push the team even further than last year. Added on to all of that, Breck also has 5 other Varsity players returning, including Kiran Mehta ‘28, Will Oberlies ‘28, Emon Razmpour ‘27, Jack Pleasants ‘27 and Dane Kindred ‘26.
However, leading into the season, Breck is still looking for someone to step up and fill the role of starting goalkeeper. With last year’s starter Xander Ehlert ‘25 graduating, the position is now wide open and looking for someone to step up and fill the gap. Whoever earns this spot will be crucial to the team’s success.
Leading the team from the sidelines is longtime head coach George Stuempfig, who has dedicated years to building up Breck’s program for success. He is determined to bring Breck its first state championship since 2005 and has the support of an experienced and passionate coaching staff. Assistant coaches Joe Ginsburg, Andrew Stuempfig, John Swallen and Christian Smith bring a deep understanding of the program and what it takes to win at a high level. With such a strong and experienced staff, the Mustangs have the guidance, support and coaching they need to make a serious run at a state championship this year.
Nevertheless, for a successful season, the team needs practice and hard work. Hence, BBS offers futsal practices every Thursday morning at 7:15. It is open to anyone looking to play soccer in the fall, so attend if you can as it will be used as an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season. Additionally, BBS will have captains practices 2 weeks before tryouts and additional training this summer, but more of that will come later. All those wanting to play and have the chance to compete for championships or to have some fun during the fall, are highly encouraged to sign up for the soccer program.
As August slowly approaches, the Mustangs are locked in and ready to go. The energy around the team is strong, and everyone is committed to giving it their all. With experienced leaders, a motivated squad, and a clear goal in mind, Breck Boys Soccer is set for an exciting season in the fall. Now it is time to put in the work and make it happen.
