There is one question lingering in the back of everyone’s mind as we enter this fall season: which artists are coming to town? After seeing an exciting end to the summer music scene with artists such as Deftones, The Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, Glass Animals, The Marias, and The Avett Brothers all coming to the Twin Cities area in just this past month, many people are curious about what Minnesota’s live music circuit has to offer next. Luckily, this article will provide an inside look at the three most eye-catching artists coming to town in October.
Laufey: A Matter of Time Tour
Starting out with one of the most talked-about upcoming shows, Laufey is returning to the Twin Cities after a year. Playing at Target Center on October 11th, listeners are extremely excited to see her return. Known for her extremely talented live vocals, beautiful instrumentals, and an overall “magical” atmosphere, Laufey’s jazzy bossa nova music has been a hit amongst millions of people across the globe. After the major success of her ‘Bewitched’ tour, Laufey’s “A Matter of Time” tour has been matching, if not exceeding, the standard set by her last tour. Added hype for the concert also comes from the opening act, Suki Waterhouse, who has ten million listeners on Spotify, leaving many fans feeling like they are going to two shows in one. With all this in mind, keep an eye out because Laufey is coming to take Minnesota by storm.
Lorde: Ultrasound World Tour
Next, on October 11th and 12th, Lorde’s “Ultrasound” world tour is highly anticipated by fans, as Lorde’s last show in Minnesota was over three years ago. Playing songs off her newly released album, along with fan favorites including “Ribs” and “Green Light”, concertgoers have highly praised the few shows of the tour so far. Creating an extremely intimate experience for her listeners, Lorde’s shows consist of smaller, more personal venues such as the Armory in Minneapolis, adding to the excitement of the tour. Listeners are thrilled, as it’s rare to see such a huge artist in a 9,000-person venue — making a ticket to Lorde’s show feel all the more special.
Mumford and Sons: Railroad Revival Tour
Last on the list, the folk rock band Mumford and Sons will be playing on October 9th at the Grand Casino Arena. Though last on the list, Mumford and Sons is far from forgettable; they haven’t played in Minnesota since 2016! Because of this nine-year gap between this show and their last, many Minnesota fans are thrilled by their return, making the atmosphere surrounding this show electric with anticipation. With many listeners who have attended the tour praising the band for the choice in setlist, musicality, and overall stage presence, excitement has been building for Minnesotans going to the concert.
Although only three of the many artists coming to Minnesota were covered in this article, Minnesota’s music scene is flourishing, seeing artists come from all over the globe to play many different genres. So, is the hype worth it? To find out, stay tuned for my next article in which I will be stating my opinion on the Lorde and Mumford and Sons concerts!
