Fall Sports Predictions

Fall Sports Predictions (Mary Knoll and Ella Hornig ‘25)

As the fall sports start to wrap up, questions circulate around which teams will make it through sections. We began interviewing the captains of BGS, BGT, BBS, BGSD, BGCC, BBCC, and BBF to get answers.

In 2021 captain Dylan Baker led Breck Girls Soccer to the state finals, with a tough loss against Minnehaha Academy. Dylan left BGS that year which left a large hole to fill in her place. Despite the team’s loss BGS pulled through sections and made it to state for the second year in a row. After a brief interview with BGS captains Katie, Maggie, Lilia, and Ariana despite the rough start to the season, they are hopeful that the team will make it back to the U.S Bank for the third year in a row.

Breck Girls Tennis has been a solid team for years now winning Breck the state title in 2022. Last Year captains Petra Lyon and Witt Mehbod led the team to the state final with a tough loss against Rochester. This year they are back for revenge and are hoping to meet Rochester in the state final for the second year in a row. Just recently BGT captain Izzy Einess committed D1 to Seton Hall. Izzy is an unstoppable force and chances are looking good for a back-to-back individual state title. Hopes are high that BGT will finish with another successful season.

Breck Girls Swim and Dive is another unstoppable force. Last year the team placed 5th overall. They have been conference champions for the past 10 years in a row. After speaking with Senior Captains Lily Augdahl and Piper Crosby they are hopeful that the team will place 4th in the state meet. So far Ava Allingham and Amelia Wachs have been dominating in their strokes, breaking records, and leading the team towards a successful end of the season.

Breck Boys Soccer is hoping to make it out of sections this year and go to state. Although this will be hard, after an interview with Captain David Shin they seem hopeful after a win to Minnehaha after losing to them earlier this season.

Breck Girls Cross Country won the conference two years ago and are looking to do that this year. The team is looking solid this year. After talking to Junior Captains Esme Gulbransen and Avery Lampe they are confident that they will send several individuals to state but they are unsure about going as a team.

With the loss of the D1 commit Alden Keller to Duke, the Breck Boys Cross Country team is looking to others to lead the team out of sections and off to state. Senior Captain Jackson Garrison thinks that although they might not go as a team to state they have some solid contenders to go individually: Graham Bailey, Mac West, and Jackson Garrison. The team is also projected to do well in sections.

After a rough start to the season, the Breck Boys Football team had a thrilling first win on Homecoming. When speaking with Captain Nate Miller he was hopeful that the team can turn it around and go on to win the rest of their games. Nate is also confident that they can pull out a win in their first-section game.
