Recently, on September 15th, Breck School started a new tradition:the Homecoming pep rally. Very secretive about just what the pep rally was going to entail, Student Body President Cori Thibodeaux was among the few that had all of the details. When asked, Thibodeaux shared “how enthusiastic [she] was about this new, hopefully annual, Breck tradition, and how much she thought the students were going to enjoy it.”
Nothing short of entertaining, the pep rally was full of surprises. Starting off with the dance team, which has been a highlight of many football game halftimes this year, the energy in Anderson Gym was palpable. Next, the student council announced Homecoming week themes. Ms. Clapp, Mr. Ohm, and Dr. Baker all showed their support for the seniors’ Friday theme of Barbie, which had the students rowdy for the upcoming week. Finally, the long awaited main event of the 2023 Homecoming royalty was revealed. Students cheered for their friends, and the pep rally finished with students singing the Breck School alma mater.
All in all, the response to the pep rally was overwhelming. The upper school student body is thrilled to have a new, long lasting tradition for years to come.
