The Dubai Chocolate Bar, known for its branding “Can’t Get Knafeh of It,” is a remarkable creation by the Dubai-based Fix Dessert Chocolatier, or FIX. According to Wikipedia, this innovative treat features a rich chocolate shell filled with a delightful mixture of fried and chopped knafeh, tahini paste, and a creamy pistachio filling, offering a unique twist on traditional dessert flavors. Despite its creation in 2021, the Dubai Chocolate Bar gained immense popularity on TikTok in 2024, quickly becoming a viral sensation as videos flooded the platform showcasing and reviewing its rich layers and “delicious” taste. However, its exclusivity to Dubai posed a challenge for eager fans worldwide, prompting many to take matters into their own hands by crafting homemade versions of this delightful treat. This sparked a creative wave as countless social media users experimented with variations that incorporated personal touches, leading to a flourishing trend and community. It’s been a few months since the trend originally exploded, and since then, its popularity has been declining. Along with this decline have come radical ideas and creations by corporations surrounding the now infamous chocolate bar. A video posted by @4rchingg on TikTok features a slideshow titled “The Dubai Chocolate Virus.” The slideshow showcases the insane creations made by companies trying to benefit and profit from the hype surrounding Dubai chocolate. These creations include “Dubai Chocolate: Pistachio Knafeh,” a perfume by the brand ANFAR; “Dubai Peptide Clay Mask,” a clay face mask by the brand Dr.Melaxin; a photo of Dubai Chocolate Pizza; what appears to be a Dubai Chocolate Burger; Dubai Chocolate Nails; Dubai Chocolate Lip Gloss; Dubai Chocolate Mac & Cheese; and another video posted by @mofries_nola features Dubai Chocolate Fries. You might think these sound absolutely disgusting or strange, and you would be correct if you saw the photos and videos I saw. The Dubai Chocolate trend was initially something unique, something that appeared somewhat appetizing, something you could easily find yourself indulging in. However, with its decline and the abrupt rise of brands attempting to capitalize on its dwindling hype came treacherous creations and concepts, leaving Dubai Chocolate with a tarnished and infamous reputation.
